Jason and Jessica Get married February 13, 2009

There are plenty of reasons to come to the conclusion that we got married on account of the Beanlet. Those conclusions aren’t totally unfounded – Beanlet did give us a kick in the pants. Truth be told we had been talking about getting married for a while, but it seemed like such a monstrous task! So we let the Beanlet’s butt kicking give us the momentum to go ahead. In case you missed the story, here’s a recap…

So to set the scene, remember that the Beanlet had existed for about eight weeks so I was technically 10 weeks pregnant when the Thanksgiving weekend rolled around. That – for those who don’t know – can be a very unpleasant time in the pregnancy. For me it was peak nausea time. Yay!

We searched all over Colorado (Colorado on the web) for a good place to spend the romantic weekend and ended  up picking Salida. We reserved a “chalet” at a B&B there. After spending a wonderful Thanksgiving with PW’s wonderful family outside wonderful Boulder, Colorado, we spend a night at aunt D’s in Denver. We spent Black Friday buying rings to replace our beaded engagement rings…

Equipped with dress, rings and marriage license, we left for Salida. The place was great!

The next day, after making breakfast together, we headed off to find some snow… and a good spot to marry. We found it after a short hike/snowshoe up near Monarch Ski area. We had a minor snafu with some missing winter clothes for Jess, but all went well. Overlooking a snow-filled valley from 11,500ft we exchanged vows. Only two/thirds were captured on video, but it’s OK. We changed back in to our normal clothes (out of the dressy) and headed back to town. Fuzz and ‘Kota were the witnesses, and -in case you missed it – Colorado does not require someone to perform the ceremony. We legally performed it ourselves.

There are more photos available on the Picassa album – lemme know if you’s like to see them!

Then we had lunch in town, and, later, a wonderful dinner at the Laughing Ladies. img_7367Then we came home. That’s the story in a nutshell. We had a blast, and we hope you enjoyed this recap!
